Air Seal, also acoustic barrier - Foams used as air seals should have a significant amount of closed cells so that air cannot penetrate nor flow through the material. The more closed cells in the material, the less compression of the foam that will be required in the application thereby allowing for use of a thinner part hence lower part cost. We recommend Lok Cel or Hydrolok, both of which contain 80 to 90% closed cells demonstrated by the materials slow recovery when compressed and the air flow test results in the specification data.
When used as an acoustic material they combine barrier and absorption characteristics which afford an unusually effective combination against objectionable noise.

High Density Foams (3, 4 & 6 lb densities) - Higher density foams can have acoustical advantages, but they also can afford more firmness/resistance, darker color for visual effect, higher resilience and added life expectancy. The Super Seal material also affords significant resistance to water and air flow. |
